School Age Program

April 2024

We dedicated a lot of our month to exploring themes around science. We incorporated a whole bunch of different materials like sugar, salt, vinegar, food colouring and more, and the children were so excited. They conducted tons of experiments, from creating colourful reactions with the food colouring and vinegar to making cool patterns with the watercolour and coffee filters. They were all so amazed by the transformations happening.

To continue with our science theme, with all the rain that’s been happening, there have been a lot of worms out in our schoolyard. So, the kids decided to explore the world of worms. We took them outside with digging shovels and buckets, and they had so much fun digging in the dirt, searching for worms. They were so excited whenever they found one. To take it a step further, we even built a worm habitat. We grabbed soil, sand, leaves, and some other natural materials to create a home for the little worms they found. The kids learned about the importance of worms in our ecosystem. It was a great hands-on lesson in environmental science.

The activities this month were not only tons of fun, but also helped the children to develop important skills. They learned to observe, predict and experiment. They also developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills, all while having fun. It was great to see their curiosity and enthusiasm for science!
