At our staff meeting this month, all of our SPC centres came together to discuss "The Image of The Child" and how we view this during mealtimes.
Mealtimes are a great way to provoke conversations with the children, support the children with self help skills, and reflect on investigations currently happening in the program.
In our program, we set up a table near our kitchen area to provoke conversation around meal times with the children, bringing back ideas that were had at the staff meeting. Small pieces of pear were set at the table for when the children arrived in the morning. The children enjoyed being able to scoop their own food and manipulate with new kitchen materials to eat with. We asked our families to send pictures of what their mealtimes look like as we want to set out pictures in our environment to provoke more conversations and extend the children's interest during mealtimes.
