The addition of a large steering wheel has inspired many memorable moments in our program this month. The children continue to use the chairs, large blocks and now the steering wheel to create various “vehicles” as props for their dramatic play.
Our most memorable moment was a spontaneous “Musical Bus Ride”.
It happened on a Friday afternoon when some children stayed inside to play with the musical instruments. As the children were getting the instruments out, some decided to set up the chairs creating a “school bus” as an addition to their play. The children climbed on with their instruments and LC got behind the wheel and began singing “The Wheels on the Bus.” Only instead of singing about the bus, she would point to a child singing about the instrument they were holding; “The drum on the bus goes drum, drum, drum…”
What made this moment so special was to see how inclusive the children were, taking turns with the instruments and ensuring everyone had an opportunity to be the driver. It has been a joy watching the children’s imagination sore making sure to include everyone in their magical adventures. We are looking forward to seeing where their next venture will be.
