This month our school age room had a very extraordinary moment that led one of our children to create her own art lesson! Early one morning KB asked educators if she could borrow the laptop and look at pictures of galaxies to see if she could create her own on blank cards! She started with markers and pencil crayons and found the colours were not blending very easily so she switched over to using paint! Once KB used the paint the creative juices started flowing and she made a variety of galaxy prints! She used white paint as stars and black paint to add ‘depth’ and create illusions, almost like you are looking into a black hole! KB became inspired by this project and wanted to continue it with the children in the afternoon. We helped her set up the art table and displayed the creations she had already made. The other girls joined in with KB after snack and had a blast following her steps instructions but also found their own way to make each painting unique!
