One morning PA and RB started building with the blocks. As they worked quietly, we wondered what they were building? They made a chair to sit on and continued to add more blocks. What plan did they have in mind? Then then added pillows, a gift box and a stuffy dog. We were still curious, what are they building! Nobody knew what they were working on until it was done and their "Christmas imaginative dramatic play" began! SS, RB, PA, and IW sat on the blocks and called it a Sleigh. SS acted as Santa and the children worked together as Elves to fix Santa’s sleigh. AG and VDt acted as Santa’s reindeer to pull the sleigh.
They were all in the holiday spirit as conversations about Santa, Christmas and Elfs could be heard in the room. They were singing and enjoying Christmas songs. DM made a Christmas card for the educators so that they "can remember her First Christmas with them." The card read, “WOW!!! What a beautiful Christmas Tree”. SS drew Christmas lights on paper, and he worked on making ornaments for the Christmas tree.
It has been amazing to experience the magic of the holidays with these children in our program. What a fun positive vibe they have created in our environment!
