Superheroes!
This morning A and J were really busy working on a “Superhero” structure. As they proceeded to add to it, S came over and was intrigued as to what they were making.
“What are you doing guys, that’s cool”- S
“We are making this for superheroes”- A
“Ya superheroes, This is a superhero room”- J pointing to the tall tower.
“And this is a dinosaur room and this is a toilet room”- A
“Ya when people are in trouble the say, help, help, I’m just going to test it out ok”- J
“Ya and then the superheroes get you better”- A
As J and A continued to play more peers floated in and out of their dramatic play and would add some of their knowledge regarding superheroes. This then sparked the idea of creating a superhero web to display and collect all of their different knowledge. We obviously know that they save people however it was interesting to hear their ideas of what they wear, eat and live. During our morning snack, the conversion continued which led us into creating a sketch of what a superhero would look like, we established that superheroes are people and from there began to add different pieces to the “superhero” costume.
Once we were completed some of the children wanted to add some of their ideas them self. After snack the group broke up into two and the children who remained inside came up with the idea of doing some superhero sketching of their own. Some of our ideas changed as the drawings became more elaborate.
“It's raining on my paper see the dots, this is a dolphin too”- E
“It's Batman, he is flying in the air!”- J

“It’s a M for Mommy”- H
“It’s a fast round super turning things see”- A
"Cat boy, Geco boy and Owlett”- E
As mentioned before the children have been playing superheroes and talking about best friends . We will continue to explore these ideas and interests and also connect them to our emotional literacy and social skills that we have been exploring and doing.
