Throughout the month, the children have been engaged in many different dramatic play experiences. During this play we observed the children making connections to their own personal experiences. One common theme in their play was building structures and labelling them as “boats”. This led the children into many different directions within their play. The children worked on accepting different ideas from each other when adding to their structures and inviting other children into different parts of the play. While engaged in this play, we observed many social connections develop with one another. We will continue to add a variety of materials to the environment for the children to extend their dramatic play experiences.
As we move into the month of October, we are curious to see how social connections between the children continue to develop. We wonder what the deeper thinking is behind their continual dramatic play experiences around boats.
