A couple of weeks ago, the Infant Group had their first Family Celebration Event for the 2019/2020 session. Since the children have been so interested and engaged with Art/Sensory related activities (please review last month’s entry for more details); we decided to use the Event as a way to have our families come and work collaboratively on an Art project.
This is a sample of one of the pieces created by our families, and we quite honestly felt that this particular photo really does not do the piece any justice at all. The deep intensity of the red paint mixed with a tiny amount of blue created such beautiful graduated tones of reds, crimsons, purples and burgundies. The texture of the paint allowed almost a marbleized effect; in fact, afterwards we (the educators) were making comparisons to the swirled marbling that is used for decorating. There is also a high sheen to the paint that did not diminish as it dried, and it really catches the light!
A big ‘thank you’ goes out to the families that were able to participate with us! We love keeping these events fun but informal and we are looking forward to planning the next one.
Take a close look at the photo of the painting; do any ideas come to mind about which possible directions we could take next? Please let us know, we would love to hear your input!
