“The wider the rage of possibilities we offer children the more intense will be their motivations and the richer their experiences” loris Malaguzzi

Loose parts are materials that can be moved all around the environment and used in endless ways. Our Junior After school program staff have been working hard at trying to collect and provide different loose parts in their classroom. These kind of loose parts as seen in the picture above provide children with virtually endless ways to create. Today we observed Brooklyn and Keira alone using the tube in the block area as a “telephone” Keira was at her house and Brooklyn at her house, which were separated by the large unit blocks. Keira was inviting Brooklyn to come for dinner through their creative “telephone” which is what Brooklyn called it. The girls used noises like “BRING BRING” to single the other peer to pick up the tube (telephone) in the other house. So creative, how they used this extra tubing as a telephone in their block play.
