“HIPPITY HOP IT’S A BOX BUNNY “

To provoke the children’s creativity, the table was covered in wonderful resources such as our Loose Parts and including (of course) an all-time favourite; boxes and cardboard.

A seven year old child tells me, “I am going to make a bunny trap.” This inspired several other children to make bunnies using boxes. As a way to slow down the process, I reminded the children to have a plan before starting to use the materials.DM and IW put their heads together to create a unique bunny that can also double as a mask or television as she held it to her face. QS, who has been talking about Easter; created a bunny from a cereal box adding sequins felt, string and her own creative design.

The Reggio philosophy sees Art as a crucial language for children to express themselves. We prefer to put out recyclables and Loose Parts as a resource to create unique art pieces as opposed to preconceived cut outs. The children then express their visions, thoughts and representations as we document the process.
