Our program was buzzing with excitement of an airport office play set up.HM took on the role of the welcoming host, inviting PA to her office with a warm “Have a seat and we are gonna fly”. Their play drew in other children.
In their roles as Pilot, PA and HM made announcements to their passengers:
HM: Have a seat and we are gonna fly
PA: Fasten your seat belt
HM: Enjoy your food and you can have a dance party, but you can’t stand.
JD contributed to the safety measures by giving neck bands to passengers for protection.
Their airplane had 10 seats and the play took an adventurous turn when HM announced the presence of a bad guy on the plane. PA stepping into superhero role and saved the passengers with a hot water gun.
It’s remarkable to see how the children incorporated their real-life experiences into their play. Their knowledge of making announcements and understanding their roles within an airport setting suggests they have likely travelled and observed these activities firsthand.
The children’s play was filled with creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and highlighted their ability to communicate effectively.
