As colder weather and darker mornings approach, we are seeing more children in the before school program feeling passionate about staying home in the morning. One morning, Brynlee was transitioning into the classroom while wishing she could still be cozy in bed. We let Brynlee have some quiet time to herself to adjust to our classroom environment, where we were currently playing with play-doh. While building blocks with a few children nearby, I heard a disagreement between two children arise, about who had more play-doh. As I was about to address the issue, I hear Brynlee in a calm and confident voice look at her friends and say, “sharing is caring!” while handing a piece of her own play-doh to a child without any.
