CARPENTRY AND REAL TOOLS
Our woodworking supplies were running low in the program so one of the families took the opportunity to donate some pieces of wood.Immediately two of the children began to share and discuss their ideas about what they could construct. They came to the conclusion that they could built a shelf, thus a project began…
Throughout this project the children were introduced to new tools such as measuring tapes and levels to aid in their discoveries and learning. They used the measuring tape and discovered that the shelf was 2 inches shorter on one side then the other. They problem solved and tested out their theories on how they could make it more sturdy and level.
In order to expand on this interest and provoke further learning the environment was purposely set up with wood working project books, sand paper and sketching materials.
I wonder what the children will create next…
