Snow Volcanoes!!!
The children have been interested in Sensory and Science materials; so with the children, we planned to make snow volcanoes outside!
The first step was to add baking soda and food colouring into cups. The children then piled snow around them to make a ‘mountain’. We then added the vinegar to the cups, and we watched the vinegar and baking soda react to make a small volcano through the snow mountains. The children were excited to see the volcano erupt! AG noticed that even after it erupted it was still fizzing in the cup. KC noticed the mixture melted the snow around it and changed its colour “its green”.I wonder what would happen if we did the experiment again with different colours? How would the colours look against the white snow? What other experiments could work outside (while it's mild enough!)
