Titanic Exploration
This morning the children were talking about the Titanic.KM stated “the Titanic had a parent ship”; to which NH replied “The Britannic”. After that, the conversation began to include their theories about how the ships sunk; KM said “the Titanic got hit by a(n) iceberg” and LH said “the iceberg was bigger in the water then what was seen”. I asked the children how ships float, and right away OR made a shape with her hands. I asked her “is it a certain shape the ship needs?” She said “Yes the water is strong and holds the ship”. KM said "The ship needs to balance in the water to float”.
The children then wanted to do more research on the Titanic, we found out it had two sister ships; the Britannic and Olympic. We watched a short documentary on how the Titanic sank and who was real in the movie that was created about the ship. In the afternoon I brought to the children's attention about possibly creating our own ship sinking seen in the water table. We will be setting it up later in the week.
I’m excited to see where this exploration takes us.
