THE BEACH

By: R.K.

R.K. was drawing at the table when an educator asked her about her picture, R.K. explained it was “the beach” pointing out the water, the sand and the sun. The educator asked, “Do you see other things when you are at the beach?” R.K. paused, smiled and said “crabs!” When the educator asked R.K. if her picture need “crabs” on it, R.K. nodded yes, as said “I don’t know how to draw a crab…”The educator asked, “Are crabs a circle or a square shape?”

This prompt, helped R.K. and she quickly drew a circle, she also added legs, pausing for a moment looking at her work, before she exclaimed “It needs pinchers!” (making a pinching motion with her hand.) Next R.K. decided to add a “starfish” she drew the shape this time adding eyes and a mouth. She was certain a starfish did not have a nose. Next R.K. decided to add a “dolphin” in the “ocean” this time she added eyes mouth and a nose. After completing the dolphin R.K. decided her drawing was now complete.

We ask you to take a moment to admire the creativity and knowledge of the beach/sea that R.K. demonstrated while completing this very detailed masterpiece.
