At the end of September, Kyle found a Hungry Hippo game on the table and discovered the little red balls that were part of the game.
He explored the game and after some time hesitantly took the balls out of the
game and held them tight in his hand. After this discovery, he experimented with different places and spaces in which the balls may fit… in cups, on the baby bed, in a bowl, in a container.
This observation led us to providing some clear tubes and long cardboard tubes with marble for the children to explore into the month of October.
It was interesting to watch as all of the children explored the materials in different ways. Hannah W. and Kyan were two children to observe that a sound was made when the plastic tubes were moved when the marble was inside. However, the children were stumped as to why the sound stopped when the marble fell out. Sound was also discovered by the children during snack time as they ate their cereal. "it Crunches" said Max. "I want mine to crunch" said Colby as he said "no" to milk in his cereal. WOW, he made the connection that somehow the milk to the sound away from the cereal! Can't wait to explore this further.
