Preschool Program

March 2025

Last week the preschoolers spent lots of time exploring their outdoor environment and the giant puddle that appeared in the playground. Before going outside today we watched a video of the preschoolers playing in the puddle last week. “I saw me when I was driving the rescue truck”(FP) “I was walking in the muck!”(SW) “It was water and I slipped and fell” (KD) “I was there too!”(SM). We asked the preschoolers what they thought it would look like in our outdoor play space today. Will our puddle still be there? Will it look the same? Or different? At first all the preschoolers agreed that it would all be the same and we could go splash in the puddles again. Then LR said “I think it won't be there because it turned into Elsa ice.” HE disagreed with LR's prediction “it will not be frozen, it will be water ice.” when we went outside the preschoolers appeared to be shocked by the snow covered environment. “Wow look how much snow there is” (MG). And then they noticed what used to be their puddle… “Our puddles covered! Why is our puddle covered?”(SW) “It's not there! It melted cuz there's lots of snow”(CD) “Puddle it's so little”(HE) “They got covered with snow. There was a snow storm”(FP) “I think it dried off”(HT) “I think it turned into ice cubes now”(HP). As the preschoolers were exploring their snow covered environment they made a discovery! “What did you guys find?”(BV) “Ice!!It was just under the snow”(FP) “It's almost like skating”(SM) “That's silly”(HP) “Hey guys I found something, iceberg!!”(HE) “I found an iceberg too!”(SM)

As the weather continues to change we look forward to hearing about what other observations and discoveries the preschoolers will make.
