Visiting the School Bus…

Earlier this month, we had the amazing opportunity to go on a school bus! With the children still interested in modes of transportation, and a main song in the room being “The Wheels on the Bus”, we decided to have a school bus come here for the children to see! This was an amazing learning opportunity for the group! The children had the chance to explore the bus in many ways; sitting on the bus (alongside the Preschool children!), seeing the door and how it opens & closes, they checked out all of the lights and got to see the big tires, up close and personal! There were lots of different reactions when it came to the visit. J seemed to be bursting with happiness once we got outside. As we were walking towards the bus, he was excitedly yelling “bu bu!” and waving his hands. He did not hesitate to get up there and sit down. Some other children were a little hesitant when they saw the bus. I wonder if it was bigger than they thought it would be?

The next morning was filled with the children exploring different materials, but all relating to one main thing in particular; vehicles & “The Wheels On The Bus”. We printed out a picture of the bus from the other day and added it to our easel alongside the children’s families vehicles. With this added, K & C both gravitated to the picture, and began pointing to the various areas of the bus, which then led us to sing “The Wheels on the Bus”. H heard us singing, and immediately came over to the felt board, where there is a felt story of the song as well! While we were singing the song, M seemed interested in pointing out the various areas of the vehicles on the easel. I wonder if he was following along with the song & making an association with the pictures?

I wonder where our exploration will take us next!
