We believe in encouraging and providing ongoing learning and professional development for our organization to grow. This occurs in many different formats. Educators participate in weekly team meetings where we deconstruct our observations and develop programming for the children. Monthly staff meetings incorporate learning communities which allow us to further study our philosophy and guiding principles. Book studies, presentations, workshops, article reviews, reflective conversations, and more are some of the ways we continue to challenge ourselves as early childhood professionals.
This season our administrative staff have embraced the book "From Teaching to Thinking" by Ann Pelo and Margie Carter. It is an excellent read for educators who "hunger for deeper meaning in their work" (Ann and Margie). They begin their writings by challenging our thoughts with the questions; "What kind of people do we want to be? What kind of world do we want to live in?... What is the purpose in education and how do we go about achieving it?" and take you on an journey to ponder these wonderings.
