Using Magnets to Develop 1-1 Correspondence, Problem Solving Skills and Fine Motor Skills
A recent addition to our environment has been magnets. The first day, the children simply explored the magnets; placing them on and off the muffin tin and discovering that they stick to it.
The second day, the children discovered that the magnets sticks together! They spent time pushing them together and pulling them apart and had to use some problem solving skills to determine which side of the magnets to use to make them stick.
By the third day, they began to challenge themselves even further by sticking the magnets together to build long lines and towers. They also put one magnet in one muffin tin hole, developing 1-1 correspondence.
