E came to the art table this morning to paint with some peers. We offered him a small transparent cup to paint on as something to add to our environment when dry. E has showed us over and over again that he loves to explore paint (and markers) in his own way – using his whole body. E started with some paint on the cup, then on the table, on his finger tip, his hand, his arm, and then his face – all using a small paint brush!
What is E feeling, thinking and seeing when he does this and why does he do it every time he is offered art materials? He stays so quiet and focused, not seeming to mind what others are doing around him, but really investigating something with the medium at hand...
