Hallowe’en Celebrations and Fun!

Hallowe’en celebrations and fun was the highlight of October! The children started talking about Hallowe’en early in the month and were quick to start making plans. Several children began creating ghosts out of paper and were wanting to plan a Bingo game that they could play on Hallowe’en. This inspired another child to begin building ghosts from tissue paper to use for a Hallowe’en scavenger hunt outside. To help hang the ghosts outside, the children came up with the idea of rolling pipe cleaners around the necks of the ghosts. They had a great time hiding the ghosts outside in the playground, and to add to that thrill there were treats as a prize!

Some of the children were very engaged with creating their own representations around Hallowe’en. One child started working on designing a mask with paper and scissors, which led to more decorations being made for the office wall in the hallway. Another child built a Hallowe’en door wreath out of pinecones; and was very proud of her work, saying “look what I made, a door wreath!” It was wonderful to see how happy and excited she was as she shared what she made. Other artwork included painting pictures of pumpkins, and all of their representations are on display in the hallway.

As part of the celebration on Hallowe’en itself, the children did some pumpkin carving. They also did some ‘spooky face’ painting, and they chose to have a favourite character painted on their faces.

Happy Hallowe’en!
