November was all about building with Blocks and making creations from Loose Parts. It has been amazing to see how the children are representing their ideas with these materials. Some of their ideas involve creating structures such as a “Pool”, a ‘McDonald’s’ shop’ and a walking bridge. Could these structures represent places the children have either seen or visited recently? Are these places found in their neighbourhoods??

This exploration extends to our collection of recyclables that have been donated by families in the program. One of the children created a ‘Worry Monster” from a tissue box and created it with pipe cleaners and an assortment of beads.Children were also using their creativity by giving a new look to some plastic jars using buttons, beads, threads and pipe cleaners. This has even extended to their dramatic play with the creation of a ‘magic wand’ and a set of ‘binoculars’.

Thank you to the families for their donations to the program! It’s a wonderful way to engage with our families and reuse everyday materials!
