Our Staff
The Schoolhouse Playcare Centre, in accordance with the Day Nurseries Act, is staffed by Registered Early Childhood Educators. All staff have additional training in First Aid and CPR.
The Early Childhood programme is a two-year diploma programme at the College level. In the two-year programme, Child Development is studied, through 0 to Adolescence.
Most staff have gone on to receive their certification which is an additional process to advance their qualifications in the field of Early Childhood Education. Recently the field of Early Childhood Education in Ontario has established a College of Early Childhood Educators. We are officially recognized as a profession and proud to say our ECE's are registered with the College. This allows us to work within the scope of practice as an ECE. The staff/child ratio is complemented by trained Early Childhood Education Students who assist in such areas as creative art, music, drama and various other learning experiences provided in an Early Childhood Education environment.
I am honoured to share with you my experience with Schoolhouse Playcare Centre. Macy’s first experience with daycare unfortunately was not a positive one. After the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back I called Kelly at Schoolhouse on the advice of a family member. My last hope….as it was to try another daycare setting or not work.
I was amazed when Macy started with Schoolhouse Playcare Centre and after staying with her for a few short hours to help integrate her; I was not seeing the same child that I had previously in a daycare setting.
The educators truly care about the children here and always have their best interests at heart. The children are allowed to express and possess their own thoughts and ideas. This experience has changed my entire opinion on leaving children in the hands of others. This truly is a Play care Centre and not just a daycare. The educators are authentic and have earned the respect of the children in a caring and kind manner. I appreciate so much what the centre has done for Macy and feel that they helped her so much even to start JK this past fall. It was without incident and for that I am grateful as they did a great deal of the work preparing her for that very first day. Schoolhouse provides quality care and I would strongly recommend them to any of my personal friends or family.
