Guidance

Children are disciplined in a positive manner at a level that is appropriate to their actions and their ages in order to promote self-discipline, self-esteem, ensure health and safety, respect for rights of others, and to maintain equipment. A time out chair is not used and corporal punishment is not permitted.

Methods of guidance are discussed at staff meetings in order to ensure consistency. Parent(s)/Guardian(s) are encouraged to be part of the discipline decisions in order to ensure consistency in the child's life, both at the centre and at home.

In the event that a child is experiencing problems that pose a direct threat to the safety of the other children or staff, the parent(s)/guardian(s) may be required to seek other child care arrangements. Support and guidance will be provided by the Director to ensure that all needs of the family are being met.
