For a toddler, sitting, listening and staying engaged in a story for a long period of time is not very easy. As educators, we plan our programs to support the need for children to move and change areas of play frequently, but with the group this year we have noticed the love of stories and songs to be very intense! What is it about a special book, or felt story that captivates the children’s minds and thinking? The ability to use memory recall? The colours, shapes and designs? Or maybe waiting for the unknown – what is going to happen next? We embrace these ideas and take time to wonder with the children during our group gatherings around their thinking and ideas.
