This month has been a full month of outdoor activities as the children have been very content to spend every minute they can in our outdoor environment. Birds and bugs has been a common interest outside. The children have found lots of ants, lady bugs, worms, caterpillars and other types of bugs and birds while we’ve been outside. In order to foster the learning and development, with the children we have brain stormed different ideas and activities that we can do to incorporate the interest and keep scaffolding their learning.
Gross motor activities is always a common interest within the group and with some loose parts and recycled materials the children have been working together and developing their gross motor skills. Leila has added several large tires to the playground. The children have been testing their skills jumping off them and using their muscles to flip and roll the tires. They have been working together to stack the tires creating a hiding place in the middle. It was wonderful to observe them working together to achieve a common goal.
